Overview: 

Organisations require effective inventory and warehouse management and it is crucial importance to growth and sustainability of business. This this high-value training attempts to increase efficiency and drive down bottom line costs whilst networking with industry peers in the Supply Chain Management.

This course includes physical part of Stores and warehouse management being important aspects, and guidelines for inventory Materials Management, Preservation, Materials Handling, Safe Operations and Construction of Storehouses and Stockyards. Strategic methods of evaluating and comparing the efficiency/performance of stores functions at various business units, since they shall be operating on the same system.

Inventory management and warehousing ensures safe and proper storage of materials, some of which may remain in the stock for many years such items like Insurance spares. Quite a number of materials handling equipment are used in store operation and in view of this causes of accident and precautions for prevention have been enumerated for the benefit of those who are involved in these operations.

Course Outcomes:

  • Effectively evaluate warehouse processes and procedures required for receiving, inspection and issuing of materials.
  • Strategic review of the reasons why to hold stock, effective stock holding and discuss how to maintain good relationships with other departments
  • Review successful methods of identifying and applying effective and efficient inventory management control levels making including MRP, KPI’s, service levels, ABC Analysis, FIFO & LIFO methods, reverse logistics including safe disposal techniques.
  • Understand optimisation of operating costs and how this can be achieved by balancing the respective needs of the customer (demands for service), the law that demands compliance with safety standards and the organisational profitability.
  • Understand the advantages of sound coding system; review the methods of coding and interpretation of codes; unpack the different types of specifications and learn how to conduct a standardisation programme.
