Health and Safety in the Covid-19 Environment

Overview

This Training Workshop examines the health and safety issues faced in the public and workplaces in the face of Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. There is a huge momentum in the development on the state of knowledge about coronavirus in the context of the health and safety responses from the public and workplaces, local and international agencies. Government bodies, health professional bodies, employers, non-governmental organisations and trade unions have joined forces in responding to Covid-19.
COVID-19, first detected in China in late 2019 and since declared a pandemic, threatens to become one of the most difficult tests faced by humanity in modern history. International Professional bodies including the World Health Organisation (WHO) have attempted to produce extensive health and safety advice and called for improved Personal protective equipment (PPE), use of Masks in the public and work environment, practising Health and Safety measures and Social Distancing in the absence of a cure.
In this training, ATI deepens delegates’ understanding of methodologies of tackling the epidemic occupational impact inclusive of politics and economics of occupational health geared towards preventive actions on the hazards and minimising the fatalities poised by Coronavirus (Covid-19).
Health and Safety in the COVID-19 Environment training workshop will also focus on compliance with the Health and Safety regulations that require the employer to train and inform employees of the risks, give instructions on the correct operating procedures to work in order to prevent risks associated with exposure to Covid19, as a strain of coronavirus, monitor exposure and impose medical surveillance on employees who may have been exposed; implement standard precautions and control the exposure of persons by limiting number of workers, and introducing engineering control measures such as extraction systems to ensure proper ventilation
